In 2017

I began working as a creator and performer of shadow puppets with the touring act “Lupita’s Revenge”. A story written/directed by Abel Klainbaum about one woman’s quest for vengeance, told through a large scroll of paper in a 52” tall crankie box and with live band performing a tango influenced score. For this production I created dozens of shadow puppets and designed 40 minutes worth of scenery/background for our large scroll.

With Atlanta/Baltimore artist Anthony Gaskins- I received a grant in 2018 from IDEA Capital to start a shadow play about the Skunkape (
Southeast United States’ own Bigfoot) In which we built a custom collapsible large scale “Crankie” (scrolling shadow box) and performed a tour in 2023 along the East Coast of the United States

In 2023, I took a full time teaching position with Alabama State University and my puppetry since has mainly been short segments in service of other productions, or to assist local theater’s with props and masks.

In the summer of 2025 I visited Chuncheon, Korea for the World Puppetry Festival and UNIMA conference, I shortly after spent a week in Seoul, Korea to take a workshop with an UNESCO heritage holder in KKokdugaksi.

I am currently in production of two new larger crankie stories and currently experimenting with combining marionettes and other three-dimensional puppets alongside my shadows and crankie work.
